Andrew McLeod Death By Work Ring | Sterling Silver

A beautiful heavy weighted ring covered in a collage of artworks designed in collaboration with renowned NZ artist Andrew McLeod.

Sterling Silver.

A vaccine against the modern-day plague of overwork. An occult emblem for those  Determined to work themselves into the grave. Memento Mori for the 21st century. Stamped with pliers, scales and worker bees, as hieroglyphs of labour and toil out of balance. The omega, a potent foretelling of the last, the end, the ultimate limit, rests beside the most manifest reminder of mortality, the grinning skeleton.

Mcleod, a renowned New Zealand artist, is known in part for his varied and impressive output spanning works in oil and digital print through to zines and textiles. Whichever medium Mcleod chooses, random objects float in an imaginary world where perspective, weight and shadow do not exist, always with a sense of his discombobulated view of society. It has been said that his work exists on the cusp of a dream state and a neurotic episode.

Each ring is a visual battleground of harmony and dissonance, seamed with a dark humour from within the shared deeply creative mindsets and aesthetics of the co creators.
